Listen to the Chilling First Track From John Carpenter's New 'Halloween' Score
Most horror movies wouldn't be nearly as frightening without ominous music and if the first track from John Carpenter's new score for "Halloween" is any indication, the reboot is going to scare the living daylights out of all of us.
Carpenter gave his blessing to the new "Halloween" movie from director David Gordon Green, which completely ignores all of the other films in the franchise and is a direct sequel to Carpenter's original 1978 movie. Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode, who is hell-bent on avenging the brutal attacks that traumatized her 40 years prior.
Recruiting Carpenter to do the new score is a pretty genius move. "The Shape Returns" bears sonic similarities and is just as creepy as the original score.
Carpenter's involvement — he also consulted on the movie — bodes well for its reception among fans. "Halloween" received positive reviews when it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, so it seems like this new direction for the franchise was a good decision.
"Halloween" opens in theaters October 19.
