Winter is coming to Disney ... the Winter Soldier, that is.

Marvel is developing a limited television series featuring two of its cinematic universe characters, the Winter Soldier and Falcon. Variety reports Malcolm Spellman ("Empire") has been tapped to write it.

Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie are expected to reprise their roles as Bucky Barnes (aka Winter Soldier) and Sam Wilson (aka Falcon). Both were introduced in the "Captain America" movies and have become reluctant allies via their friendship with Steve Rogers. They both appeared in this year's "Avengers: Infinity War."

Stan has previously given his thumbs up on a Bucky/Sam team-up show, which he wanted to be "like '48 Hours' or a buddy comedy from the '80s or the '90s. That's how I see it."

In September, it was reported that Marvel was developing several limited series based on characters like Loki and Scarlet Witch for the upcoming streaming video service. And with this new project, it seems like the comics company is looking to ramp up content for its corporate parent's new offering.

This comes in the wake of Netflix's cancellation of "Luke Cage" and "Iron First," two series based on Marvel characters.

Marvel isn't the only Disney branch busily creating shows for the streaming service. Lucasfilm is working on "The Mandalorian," the first live-action "Star Wars" series, as well as another season of the animated "Clone Wars." And Pixar is looking to debut an animated series based on its popular film "Monsters, Inc."
