The "Runaways" are running away to Hulu!

Marvel announced that a television version of the its comic series is heading to Hulu. The studio is teaming up with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the producing team behind "Gossip Girl."

"The Runaways" follows a group of six teens who learn their parents are supervillains and run away. As they discover their own unique powers, they band together against their parents.

Marvel has been trying to adapt "The Runaways" into a feature film for several years now. In 2010, they came close with director Peter Sollett ("Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist"), but ended up hitting the brakes on the project.

Now, Marvel is opting to take the comic series to the small screen. The studio already has a number of TV series on Netflix, including the upcoming "Luke Cage." Unlike Netflix, though, Hulu tends to release its original series weekly, rather than all at once.
