Superheroes and canines will battle it out at this year's Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the list of 25 films eligible for the animated feature category. As usual, Pixar is in the mix with its blockbuster sequel "Incredibles 2." Last year, the animation studio won for "Coco."

Also vying for nominations are Wes Anderson's stop-motion film "Isle of Dogs" and Sony's upcoming "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse."

The indie distributor GKIDS is a major contender, with several titles including "Fireworks," "MFKZ," and "Mirai of the Future."

Not all of the movies on the list have opened in theaters for their qualifying run. They must fulfill the theatrical release requirements and comply with all of the category’s other rules before they can advance in the voting process. Sixteen or more films must qualify for the maximum of five nominees to be voted.
