The upcoming "Charlie's Angels" reboot is boldly going in an awesome direction with its latest casting, reportedly eyeing Sir Patrick Stewart for a key role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stewart is currently in talks to play Bosley, the Angels' handler and a liaison for the titular head of the Townsend Agency. But what about Elizabeth Banks, the film's director, who was also supposed to be appearing in the flick as Bosley?

She's not going anywhere, it turns out. THR explains:

"In a twist on the usual proceedings, the project seems to have multiple characters named Bosley, who in the past acted as face of the enigmatic and never-seen owner of the detective agency, Charlie Townsend. Banks is playing Bosley with sources telling The Hollywood Reporter that Stewart is also playing a Bosley."

The existence of multiple Bosleys makes sense for this reboot, since it takes place in a world where there a many different satellite offices of the Townsend Agency operating across the globe. We'd imagine that Stewart's version of the character will head up a UK-based offshoot of the group. (Bonus points if the film can work in a reference to the actor's soon-to-be-reprised role of Capt. Jean-Luc Picard in a new "Star Trek" series. Make it so!)

Whatever his involvement, we can't wait to see Stewart act alongside the film's stellar cast, which includes Banks, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. The flick is a celebration of women, according to Kristen Stewart, and sounds like it will more than live up to its predecessors.

No word yet on when "Charlie's Angels" is due in theaters. Stay tuned.
