Moviegoers have laughed and cried with Reese Witherspoon on the big screen, but soon they'll be scared out of their seats.

The "Walk the Like" Oscar winner has been tapped to star in and produce "Cold," a "dark thriller with supernatural elements," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project teams her with Pacific Standard Films, the same collaborators behind the book-to-big-screen adaptation of 2014's "Wild," which scored her second Oscar nod.

Witherspoon takes on the dual role of star and producer again in "Tink," the forthcoming live-action version of Peter Pan's Tinker Bell, and she will star opposite Nicole Kidman in HBO's limited series "Big Little Lies."
