Sandra Bullock's 5-year-old son Louis now has a little sister, Laila. The actress and her adorable kids are on the new cover of People magazine, with Sandra explaining that she adopted her 3.5-year-old daughter from Louisiana.

Laila, whose name is pronounced Lila, had been in foster care, and Sandra, 51, used the magazine story to bring more attention to the 415,129 children now in foster care in the U.S. "When I look at Laila, there's no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here," Sandra told People. "I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time."

Sandra said Louis was the mastermind of the whole second adoption process, and even though the two siblings are now inseparable, it took a while to build trust. "I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren't going anywhere." Sandy said her house is now a mix of "pink and glitter" and "Legos and Batmans." And apparently Laila already has a celebrity crush ... on Bruno Mars! He's a bit old for her, but it's a decent start.

There was a report out in early October that the Oscar-winning actress was adopting a second child, but this is Laila's big public debut. Sandra said, as a parent, she wants to protect her children from the spotlight as much as possible, but it turns out -- before the adoption was official -- a paparazzo followed her family when they were at the hospital for a minor medical emergency. Next thing she knew, a photo of Laila was being shopped to every outlet. "I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe," Sandra said. "Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances — and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job."

That's the double-edged sword of fame. Because of her job, Sandra has tremendous resources and can give her kids so many advantages, but that comes with attention and cameras, and not all of the photos will be pre-approved like this. But it has to be worth it, because look at this beautiful family!
