"Stranger Things" executive producer Shawn Levy just shared a bunch of great new Season 3 details with Glamour. He said they already know how the season will break down, and it will include eight or nine episodes. It should be a relief to you -- and especially him -- that Will Byers will no longer be the target of abuse.
"We're going to give Will a break," Levy told Glamour. "We're not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row. He'll be dealing with stuff, but he won't be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah Schnapp to play."
Good! Maybe let him be one of the heroes for a change. Put his experience to use helping others.
"There was clearly a connection there. Karen has some unhappiness that is brewing. I think that makes her vulnerable to all kinds of things in Season 3."
Vulnerable. Intriguing. Levy had previously teased big things for Karen in the year ahead, telling Glamour:
"We have much more story for Karen that is linked to her discontent and her dissatisfied sexuality. In the end, there wasn't room to service all the ideas. Some ideas got punted to next season and maybe beyond, but we're not done with Karen Wheeler and her failing marriage."
Poor sleeping Ted Wheeler (Joe Chrest) has no idea. Bless him.
Also, in case you're curious, there will be more "Steve/Dustin action" in Season 3 as well. That's certainly good news for fans of the Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery pair-up.
"Stranger Things" Season 3 doesn't have a premiere date yet, but if they start filming early this spring, there's still potential for the series to return at the end of 2018 instead of 2019. Fingers crossed.
