Tatiana Maslany Joins Matthew Rhys in 'Perry Mason' Series
"Orphan Black" star Tatiana Maslany is playing a lead role in HBO's "Perry Mason" series, but it's not Mason's secretary, Della Street.
The series, which stars Matthew Rhys as Mason, will be set in the 1930s when the character is a private eye and not yet a famous defense attorney.
She'll be playing Sister Alice, the leader of the Radiant Assembly of God, preaching three sermons a day to a radio audience that spans the country.
The character doesn't exactly sound charitable, but more of a power-hungry manipulator.
Then again, the series finds Mason looking for "redemption" after the war and a failed marriage, so Sister Alice might come into play in that respect.
Maslany won the 2016 Emmy for her performance as multiple clones on the BBC America sci-fi series "Orphan Black."
Her feature films include "Destroyer" opposite Nicole Kidman and "Stronger" with Jake Gyllenhaal.
