When Alicia Vikander takes over as "Tomb Raider" heroine Lara Croft, she'll be up against a new foe, and it looks like he'll be played by Walton Goggins.

The "Vice Principals" star is in final negotiations to join the upcoming reboot, according to Variety. At this point, details about the project are still as scarce as the artifacts that Croft hunts down, but word is that he'll play a villain in the action flick. Goggins should be able to manage that just fine after starring in films like "The Hateful Eight," "American Ultra," and "Machete Kills."

"Tomb Raider" is based on the popular video game franchise that launched in the '90s. It went on to inspire two movies starring Angelina Jolie as Croft: 2001's "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" and 2003's "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life." Now, it looks like Goggins will get to leave his mark on the franchise as well.

The "Tomb Raider" reboot, directed by Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug, is slated to premiere on March 16, 2018.
