13 Great TV Shows on Netflix to Watch With Your Kids

Moviefone

by Sabina Ibarra

What's a parent to do?!! Netflix has an overwhelming selection of shows for kids, and not all of them are parent-friendly -- meaning, watching them with your kids is akin to torture. Fortunately for you, we've hand-picked a selection of shows streaming on Netflix that you can watch with your kids and teens that will (hopefully) entertain you as much as it entertains them.

'Phineas and Ferb'

Two half-brothers team up to create fun inventions for an endless summer with friends. This Disney channel hit is aimed at young ones, but adults will find pop-culture references to fave cult films strewn throughout. There are even Marvel and Star Wars crossovers, plus super catchy tunes.

'My Little Pony'

Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn from the land of Equestria is sent to the town of Ponyville to learn about the magic of friendship. On her mission, she encounters new pony companions who unite with her to save their worlds. Sound too kiddy? You'd be surprised. Quick, smart, and funny in parts, you just might find yourself laughing along with your little kiddos.

'Pokemon: Indigo League'

The first season of the show that inspired "Pokemon: GO" is available to watch on Netflix! The series follows a young boy as he embarks on mission to be the very best at catching cute but powerful monsters. The show is suitable for both small Pokemon trainers and older Pokemon masters.

'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'

Maybe the best version of Anakin Skywalker before he became Vader can be found here. Watch as he tempted by the darkside for the very first time, despite the efforts of his friends to redeem him. This show is for kids but also for you.

'Dragons: Riders of Berk'

This Netflix and DreamWorks Animation series serves as a bridge between the first two crazy-popular "How to Train Your Dragon" movies. Catch up with Hiccup and Toothless as they grow up, learn to fly, and discover new dragons and friends.

'Fuller House'

After you expose your 4th grade- to middle school-age kids to the wonders of your childhood in "Full House," be sure to wrangle them for a whole new generation in "Fuller House." With some of the original cast returning (and cameos from many others), you'll experience many nostalgic #feelings while your kids learn valuable life lessons.

'Girl Meets World'

Another revival show to catch with your tweens, Disney's "Girl Meets World" follows "Boy Meets World" couple Cory and Topanga as they raise their kids. The show centers around their eldest daughter, Riley, as she begins to walk in her father's footsteps.

'Goosebumps'

Be sure to let your littler ones know they're in for a scare. This spooky series aimed at a middle school-age audience is a great way to introduce your family to horror. There hasn't quite been a series like this since, but the recent movie adaptation (also on Netflix) is a great bonus.

'Bob's Burgers'

Definitely watch this with your older kids. "Bob's Burgers" is a fun, hilariously off-center animated series for the quirky at heart. The silly, musical, and off-the-wall show has a cult following for a reason: Tina Belcher. Oh, and did we mention it's HILARIOUS?

'Gilmore Girls'

Most parents watch their kids grow up, but, in the Gilmore Family, its more like they grow up together. Catch up on the mother/daughter-centered show that endeared viewers to Stars Hollow and its inhabitants years before Netflix gifted us with "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."

'The Flash'

For older kids looking to get more into comic book movies, "The Flash" is a great introduction. Follow Barry Allen (if you can) as he fights crime with superhuman speed.

'iZombie'

Have kids interested in "The Walking Dead" but they're a tad too young? This more middle school-age appropriate show follows a young doctor who becomes a zombie with the ability to solve victim's murders by nibbling their brains. (It works better than it sounds.)

'The Vampire Diaries'

"The Vampire Diaries" is a horror drama that centers around a pair of vampire brothers who fall in love with a girl who looks a lot like their first love. The show is very dark, violent, and has provocative themes, so proceed with caution. We're talking high school age or older.
