"Unsolved Mysteries" is reopening the case.

Netflix has ordered a reboot of the classic true crime docuseries, which first ran on NBC 1987 to 1997. The project comes from original creators Terry Dunn Meurer and John Cosgrove, who are also teaming up with "Stranger Things" producers Shawn Levy and Josh Barry.

Each of the 12 new episodes will focus on a single mystery and like the original, ask the viewers for help in solving the case.

It's unclear how viewers will be able to "help" solve the cases on the new "Unsolved Mysteries." Perhaps the show will use some version of the choose-your-own-adventure software that powered "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch."

"Unsolved Mysteries" premiered on NBC in 1987 as a set of specials and became a weekly series a year later. Host Robert Stack introduced several cases in each episode, focusing on unsolved crimes, paranormal incidents, and conspiracy theories.

The show ran for nine seasons on NBC, then for two seasons on CBS. Lifetime produced new episodes in 2001. Then, Spike TV repackaged the show with host Dennis Farina, which ran from 2008 to 2010.
