A little girl is born in Värmland with a special ability. Inside her is a creature that can tell the most horrifyingly frightening and shimmeringly beautiful stories. But she won't obey her father. At the end of the 19th century, the whole world is on the move for the new century. New inventions and ideas make anything seem possible! Selma Lagerlöf travels to Europe and crosses the Mediterranean to the Orient. She falls in love with two women, which becomes a lifelong triangle drama. Selma Lagerlöf is world-famous and the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. She earns huge sums of money but is not allowed to vote. But she has the power to tell her story! And with it, she changes herself and the world. She becomes the pioneer of suffrage and her stories lay the foundations for the golden age of Swedish cinema. After the First World War, she sees history repeating itself for the next, but never stops believing in the power of love to change. She farms at Mårbacka and practices yoga, letting her inner creative being guide her pen to the very end.
