They're not mad. They're just disappointed that your mind lives in the gutter. Less fist meme than D.W. at the fence.

You may have noticed that "Arthur" memes have taken over Twitter. For some reason, now was the time for this 20-year-old PBS cartoon to go viral. Most of the memes are hilarious in the usual irreverent way of the Internet, but some of them are pretty nasty, soiling the good name of aardvark Arthur and his young friends, who are totally not trying to have sex all the time, guys, come on!

WGBH, the network behind "Arthur," shared a statement reacting to the posts:

"We appreciate the memes that have been created and shared in good fun. We are, however, disappointed by the few that are outside of good taste."

Here are a few that might be crossing the line a bit:

Ahem.

WGBH added that they are "lucky to have a fan base that is so engaged with Arthur, especially those millennials who grew up with him." However, they hope "that Arthur and his friends will be depicted in a way that is respectful and appropriate for all audiences, including young Arthur fans and their families."

Put some respect back on Arthur's name!
