This is the most oustanding, greatess movie that I came to enjoy. It showed just how some parts of Texas and other states are with dirty policemen... nd lawyers and judge's at the top of the list. I say this cause I'm a Texans homegrown and retired law enforcement. I think every female should see this. I'm glad it is on DVD so I can ********* my granddaughters can see it. Full Review

Great movie. The acting was good. The story is heartbreaking, but it is the reality many face in America. I would recommend you watch.

This is an excellent movie. The cast portrayed the characters very well. I also agree with rmccain15165 that all races should go and see this... . Nicole Beharie will have a good future with her acting career. It seems that we will never be equal because the DA was re-elected. People of all races need to stand up for what is right and fair. We are not living in 1942 people lets get a reality check. My generation will not out without a fight. I totally agree with Dee Roberts for taking a stand in what she felt was right and not take the plea deal. Full Review

An artlessly powerful performance by newcomer Nicole Behaire anchors American Violet.Full Review

American Violet, it's true, is not blazingly original cinema. Tim Disney's direction and the screenplay by Bill Haney are meat and potatoes, making this story clear, direct and righteous.Full Review

Dee is an engaging, admirable lead character, and the striking, petite Beharie, in only her second screen role, is a real winner, bringing energy and fortitude to a woman who easily could have joined the ranks of society's victims and losers.Full Review

What sticks in my craw -- just a bit -- is the way the film doesn't fully trust the true story's inherent power.Full Review
