Saw Cesar Chavez this week. Very moving and powerful. Shout-outs to Michael Pena, America Ferrara, Rosario Dawson and a splendid cast. So well directed and shot. So many closeups of just the workers--reminded me of Diego Rivera's work, in some strange way. Go!

Entertaining but not as factual as I would have liked. Chavez received a telegram from MLK in 1966 supporting his work spiritually/financially. The UFW had a close relationship with SCLC especially after MLK died, just 2 months before Bobby. A gross omission that potentially divides black/brown.

The film offers insight and perspective into the decision making process and strategies of the UFW, as well as candid looks into the family structure, both that of the Chavez family and the owners.

You can tell a good movie when no one gets up to leave until most of the credits have passed. Emotional not because of the politics of union, but because of the family dynamics and struggles not only of Chavez, but also one of the land owners.
