Brilliant movie. Frank Langella as usual brilliant and so was Lauren Ambrose. I first saw Frank Langella at the Longwharf Theater and his genius has always enthralled me.

For intelligent adults only, who might appreciate it. Mainly for those with love of literature. An elderly male writer and a young, flighty, female who is a literature graduate student, are drawn together by mutual interest and intellect. Is it better to love and lose than not love? Is the pain of possible separation worth the benefit of intimacy? Intelligent conversation will make this one dull

This is one of the worst movies we have seen in several years. It seemed to last 4 hours! Terrible dialogue -- very strained. Forget this one.

In the movie, the writer, played by Frank Langella, says, "Follow your characters around until they do something interesting." They didn't in this film, in my opinion. I didn't get the attraction. Langella's character seemed so cold and suppressed that I could not understand anyone, even a literacy freak/geek being that attracted to him. What was the attraction? Yeah, his books. But, after
