Plot Summary
Determined to educate the town's illiterate children, schoolmarm L.C. Moffat (Katharine Hepburn) opens a school in a dismal Welsh coal-mining community. Battling both the ignorance of the villagers and the contrary local squire (Bill Fraser), Miss Moffat becomes increasingly discouraged until she sees extraordinary potential in one of her students, Morgan Evans (Ian Saynor).
