This movie was amazing; it is probably one of the best movies that I have seen in a long time. It has so much emotion that you can almost feel what the characters are feeling. Ben Foste... r and Woody Harrelson both give an incredible performance. Full Review

I liked it more then The Hurt Locker. I cared more about these characters. I was emotionally invested. I thought the Hurt Locker was a little cliche. It was good, but not great. I really didn't care a... bout the main character in the Hurt Locker. I felt like it was the same re-hashed story of the soldier that likes war a little to much. But The Messenger takes a different approach to the Shell Shocked Soldier. This is not a war movie. But it has it's affects all over it. It really made me connect and feel what these characters were going through. They were experiencing their own post traumatic stress disorder after every message they delivered. They were already scared by their past, so their job add in creating these multi-layered characters. I recommend it. Full Review

BAD! Poor character development, weak story, and poor acting. Want me go on?

I think this is possibly one of the greatest non-combative war films of all time. Ben Foster's character's struggle between a soldiers duty and his humanity is a tense but beautifully developed confli... ct that he is constantly struggling with. The cinematographer did a great job showing the isolation of Foster's character through the use of shadows and framing. The relationship between him and Woody Harrelson captures the dependency of companionship, especially for those returning from war. Great film, I hope to see more films with the courage that The Messenger has. Full Review

I just saw this movie at The Nantucket Film Festival....I've been trying to come up with the right words to give this movie justice. When you leave a movie and you feel so moved you want other people... to experience it. but don't know quite how to do it...The feeling and depth and what soldiers do for our country and the family of the soldiers that die in the line of combat....and the heartbreak they go through when they learn of the death of their Husband, Wife, daughter, son..sister,brother. family member. Get 's you a little closer to what war is really about .... I wish I could explain my thoughts better but just know that it left a real impact in my life. I encourage you to see the movie where ever it comes out....and if its not at your local theaters....ask for it to be shown. Helen Full Review
