  • Undefeated is filled with wonderful narratives, which impressed academy voters enough to garner an Academy Award this week. It's a credit to directors Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Daniels that the personal stories of the kids and coaches resonate more than the wins and losses. show more

  • Deftly balancing the students' stories with that of Courtney's, the film creates a fully rounded portrait of a corner of America rarely examined. show more

  • One of the reasons documentaries often take so long to make is the filmmakers' need to keep their subject from giving a performance. They want something genuine, something that materializes only when the camera disappears. Nothing Mr. Courtney is says is inaccurate or, God knows, dishonest. But it isn't quite true either. show more

This movie was great! Totally absorbing. We care about these young men who are molded by this fine coach and we care about the man they call coach. Highly recommend this film.

I like docunentaries about sports teams, especially down on their luck, doing well stories. I felt I would like to see this movie. I decided I would like some history about the Manassas, Memphis high school team. The information in the plot is not quite true. The 2007 Mananassas team went 7-4 and went a playoff game. The 2008 Manassas team went 9-2 and also went to a playoff game, so they had been to a playoff game at least twice before 2009 documentary season. The 2009 team also went 9-2 and went a playoff game. Pretty good records for a team who always losing. The coaches names during these years were Tommy Wareen and Carl Coleman, noit Bill Courtney, as stated in the plot. What\'s up?
