Because Fox was "too cheap" to buy a Super Bowl ad, Deadpool spent Sunday night promoting his sequel on Twitter.
Talk about maximum effort!
Last we heard, "Deadpool 2" was releasing its first trailer with "Black Panther," posting the video online on Valentine's Day. That's next week, which means it skipped the usual parade of movie trailers during the February 4 Super Bowl.
However, not one to miss an opportunity for self-promotion, the official Deadpool Movie account live tweeted the big game in classic Merc With a Mouth fashion.
Remember that time I was wrist-deep in cocoa butter and Fox called to say they were too cheap to buy a spot in the big game then told me I had to live tweet it? Cause I do... #DPtheSB#SBLIIhttps://t.co/YGlQ6DZhbU— Deadpool Movie (@deadpoolmovie) February 4, 2018
Whoever tweets from the account -- whether it's Ryan Reynolds, the movie's writers, a combination, or other -- really did give maximum effort. "Deadpool" tweeted dozens of times during the Pats/Eagles game, from Pink's National Anthem to the coin toss, Justin Timberlake's halftime show, etc.
Here are just a few of the bon mots:
God, I love Pink (and not just the pop singer). Besides being my 2nd favorite shade of red, it's also the color of the inside of people's outsides and that lady biker gang from Grease. #DPtheSB— Deadpool Movie (@deadpoolmovie) February 4, 2018
No, seriously. I'm actually in the bathroom, this is not part of the marketing. AHHHH I'm GOING TO MISS JT!!!!— Deadpool Movie (@deadpoolmovie) February 5, 2018
Now that's dedication.
"Deadpool 2" opens May 18.
