Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro's lifelong passion project is finally coming to life on Netflix.

The streaming service has scheduled del Toro's animated "Pinocchio" film for 2021. Del Toro is also writing and producing the project, which will be a stop-motion musical and tell the classic tale of Pinocchio in Italy during the 1930s.

Netflix also announced a new animated film from writer/director Henry Selick ("Nightmare Before Christmas," "Coraline") and Oscar-winning writer Jordan Peele. "Wendell & Wild" is about two demon brothers (voiced by Peele and Keegan Michael Key) who escape the Underworld and find themselves in a town where they must evade a demon-duster teenager, Kat, who is trying to destroy them.

In addition to these two high-profile titles, Netflix unveiled an impressive slate of upcoming animated projects, including "My Father's Dragon" from Nora Twomey ("The Secret of Kells") and "Jacob and the Sea Beast" from Oscar winner Chris Williams ("Moana," "Big Hero 6").
