Showtime's sequel series "Penny Dreadful: City of Angels" has cast another lead actor.

"Halt and Catch Fire" alum Kerry Bishé has joined the cast, Deadline reports. She'll star alongside Daniel Zovatto and Natalie Dormer. They'll bring to screen another story from John Logan, the creator, writer, and executive producer of Showtime's original "Penny Dreadful."

The new series is described as "a spiritual descendant" to its predecessor. "Penny Dreadful" aired from 2014 to 2016, and its three seasons revisited figures from gothic fiction and played out in Victorian London. "City of Angels," on the other hand, weaves in Mexican-American folklore and is set in 1930s Los Angeles.

The new chapter involves a gruesome murder that Zovatto will investigate as Detective Tiago Vega. We don't know how Bishé's character, Sister Molly, is connected yet, but we do know that she's a radio evangelist with a strong following. Meanwhile Dormer plays a supernatural demon named Magda who can take on different appearances.

Bishé has been active in both movies and TV in recent years. Some of her recent credits include roles on the shows "Halt and Catch Fire," "Narcos," and "The Romanoffs," as well as in the films "How It Ends" and "Rupture." She's also well-known for starring in 2012's "Argo."

"Penny Dreadful: City of Angels" brings back Logan as writer and executive producer. He's joined by fellow executive producers Michael Aguilar and Neal Streat Productions' Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris. James Bagley is a co-EP, and Desert Wolf Productions produces.

The series is expected to begin filming this year. Its premiere date has not yet been set.
