Charlotte Verminck Biography

Charlotte Verminck is a Belgian filmmaker, writer, director, and editor working internationally. She is the founder of the independent production company Above The Nerve. Verminck's work has become known for its exploration of the interior life — thought, perception, selfhood, and the unseen forces that shape how we experience the world. Choreography and movement are central to her cinematic language, used not as decoration but as a way to make internal states visible: an extension of character, emotion, and the silent architecture of the mind.

She trained in film choreography and movement direction with Francesca Jaynes (Black Widow, Gravity, Pinocchio) and Dale Mercer. Her narrative short film Mind of Thoughts — an exploration of self-doubt, internalized pressure, and the quiet weight of the inner voice — premiered at the 25th Beverly Hills Film Festival at the TCL Chinese Theatres and has since toured internationally, with awards in Los Angeles, Barcelona, and New York, and an opening-night placement at the Ferrara Film Festival alongside Paul Haggis's Crash.

The film has also generated an ongoing screening and conversation format presented at cultural institutions internationally. Her earlier work includes the video poem Pathless, recognized by the Institute for Experimental Arts. Verminck began her career as a video artist and creative director for Belgian musician Ozark Henry, with whom she co-founded the arthouse collective SOH, while completing a Bachelor's Degree in International Communication and Media.

She later interned at Little Minx, the Hollywood production company led by Rhea Scott, before founding Above The Nerve.
