Chris Waters

Chris Waters grew up on the coast, where spearfishing, free diving, swimming, and surfing shaped his connection to the natural world. In his mid-20s, he and his young family moved inland to a property two hours from the ocean, trading waves for wide-open bushland. With the sea out of reach, Chris discovered a new way to stay connected to nature and source food: hunting.

What started as the occasional rabbit hunt or spotlighting trip quickly became a passion. Guided by experienced hunters, he learned the skills, ethics, and mindset that continue to shape his approach to the outdoors. Combining his love of the outdoors with a professional background in creative, marketing, and design, Chris began sharing his hunts online.

His authentic approach and focus on ethical hunting quickly attracted a loyal audience, leading to the creation of The Huntsman, a YouTube channel that evolved into a TV and streaming series. The show takes viewers across Australia’s incredible landscapes—from rugged outback to dense rainforest—showcasing the thrill of the hunt, the value of sourcing wild food, and the importance of hunting responsibly.

Chris also founded Amelpa Productions, the company behind The Huntsman and other outdoor projects. Beyond content creation, Chris founded Hunting Trips Australia, an online directory connecting hunters worldwide with Australian guides, educators, and property owners. From chasing Sambar deer in the Victorian High Country to mountain goat hunting in New South Wales, the platform gives hunters access to some of Australia’s best hunting experiences.

Chris also launched the Australian Hunters Club, a modern and inclusive hunting community that empowers members to organize events, connect with others, and take charge of their own hunting journeys. The club offers monthly guided hunt giveaways and high-quality gear prizes, making ethical hunting both accessible and rewarding. Through his work, Chris has built a national network that brings hunters together, fosters learning, and promotes respect for the outdoors.

He continues to inspire Australians to embrace adventure, sustainability, and the joy of wild food.
