Mississippi Burning - Anger and Inequality in Mississippi

Eulogist: [points to coffin] They want me to say, "Let us not forget that two white boys also died helping negros help themselves." They want me to say, "We mourn with the mothers of these two white boys." But the state of Mississippi won't even allow these white boys to be buried in the same cemetery as this negro boy. I say, "I have no more love to give! I have only anger in my heart today, and I want you to be angry with me! That I am sick and I am tired, and I want you to be sick and tired with me! I-I-I am sick and tired of going to the funerals of black men who have been murdered by white men! And I-I am sick and tired of the people of this country who continue to allow these things to happen!" What is an unalienable right if you are a negro? What does it mean, Equal Treatment under the law? What-what does it mean, Liberty and justice for all? Now I say to these people, "Look at the face of this young man, and you will see the face of a black man. But if you look at the blood shed, it is red! It is like yours! It is JUST... LIKE... YOURS!

Do the Right Thing - Frustration Over Newcomers in the Neighborhood

ML: Look at those Korean motherfuckers across the street. I betcha they haven't been a year off da motherfucking boat before they opened up their own place.
Coconut Sid: It's been about a year.
ML: A motherfucking year off the motherfucking boat and got a good business in our neighborhood occupying a building that had been boarded up for longer than I care to remember and I've been here a long time.
Sweet Dick Willie: It has been a long time.
Coconut Sid: How long?
ML: Too long! Too long. Now for the life of me, I haven't been able to figger this out. Either dem Koreans are geniuses or we Blacks are dumb.

Do the Right Thing - Consequences of Ignorance and Climate Change

ML: Well, gentlemen, the way I see it, if this hot weather continues, it's going to melt the polar caps and the whole wide world. And all the parts that ain't water already will surely be blooded.
Coconut Sid: You're a simple motherfucker. Now where you read that shit, eh? Polar caps...
ML: Don't worry about it. But when it happens, and I'm in my boat, and your black asses are drowning, don't call for me to throw you no rope, no lifesaver, or no nothing.
Sweet Dick Willie: You fool! You're 30 cents away from having a quarter! Where the fuck you gon get a boat?

Coming to America - Unexpected Encounter with a Landlord

Landlord: [brusque] Okay, now what the fuck do you want?
Prince Akeem: We desire a room.
Landlord: [angered; Semmi holds up a large clip of money; landlord becomes cheerful] Look, you better not be wasting my time. You got money? Come on in, gentlemen.
Landlord: Excuse me, if I was brusque, but sometimes we get booboos in here without a dollar to their name. You boys obviously came in on another boat.
Prince Akeem: We seek meager accommodations.
Landlord: Excuse me?
Prince Akeem: [Man tumbles down stairwell] We require a room that is very poor.
Landlord: Hey Stu, your rent is due, motherfucker! And don't be pulling that falling down the stairs shit on me y'hear, are you conscious!?
Landlord: [Gives brief tour of bathroom, which is festering with bugs; Approaches a door with police caution tape; landlord removes tape and opens door; Semmi looks in disgust as a rat travels around the floor with chalk marks of a man and a dog] All right, there is only one bathroom on this floor, so you will have to share it. Got a bit of an insect problem, but you boys from Africa are used to that. Also, whatever you do, do not use the elevator; it is a death trap. This room is facing the wall; used to rent it to a blind man. Damn shame what they did to that dog.
Prince Akeem: We will take the room!
