Katarína Kolníková Biography

Katarína Kolníková (* April 20, 1921, Radošina - † May 29, 2006, Radošina) was a Slovak actress. Since 1971 she has worked at the Radošinský Naive Theater (RND). She has acted in almost all of Stanislav Štepka's productions. She grew up in Radošin in a poor family of a railway worker. She had eight siblings. She went to school in her hometown.

At first she worked as a seasonal worker on the episcopal estate in Radošina, then for several years in Piešťany. In 1941 she married Michal Kolník from Nitrianská Blatnice, with whom she had four children. After 1945, when her husband left her, she was left alone with the children. Until her retirement, she worked as a schoolgirl and foster mother in a kindergarten in Radošin.

However, she sacrificed her whole life not only to children, but also to theater. In 1932, she made her debut as an 11-year-old in the play Jezuliatko. After amateur theatrical years, when she tried out her theatrical work in her native Radošina in plays by Ferek Urbánek, Jozef Gregor Tajovský or Agatha Christie, she came to the Radošinský naive theater in 1971, where she formed and permanently defined herself in her first play People (1971).
