Ketty Papanika Biography

Kaiti Papanika (Greek: Καίτη Παπανίκα, June 14, 1942 – June 12, 2017) was a Greek actress. Her parents were from Acharnes (Menidi) in Attica. She studied at the Drama School of the National Theatre and graduated with honors. She was taught acting by important teachers, such as Katina Paxinou, Anna Synodinou, Thanos Kotsopoulos, Dimitris Myrat, Lykourgos Kallergis, Eleni Chalkousi and Alexis Solomos.

At the same time, she studied classical singing at the Athens Conservatory. As a student, she also took part in a poetry recitation festival in Paris, was awarded and declared an honorary citizen. She made her stage debut in 1964 in the play Lela's Basement by V. Improhoris at the Attikon Theatre. She then collaborated with troupes of well-known protagonists and distinguished herself in prose and review.

She began her film career with the film They Hide the Sun from Us (1963) and 1968 was a turning point for her career, as she became better known when she played in the film An Italian from the Beehive. Throughout her career, she took part in more than 50 films, dramas, comedies and adventures. She was honored with the State Award for Best Actress in 1990 for her performance in the film Bye-Bye by G.

Tsemberopoulos, while she had also played in several television series. She was the wife of the well-known actor Theodoros Katsadramis. Katie Papanika was a teacher at the Antonis Andriopoulos School of Acting. On February 8, 2015, she was unanimously declared an Honorary Member of the Philotechni Club of Acharnes (Menidi).
