Mario Pozzi-Escot Biography
Mario Pozzi-Escot Parodi studied Philosophy at the National University Federico Villarreal and trained at the Armando Robles Godoy Film School. He participated in important Peruvian and international film productions such as La muralla verde, The Last Movie, Espejismo, and El viento de la ayahuasca, working in areas such as art direction, set design, and production.
He was also co-writer and director of the feature film Expropiación. As an audiovisual filmmaker, he directed documentaries, medium-length films, and series such as Qosco, Cuatrotablas Espacio Vivo, Ashánincas Creando, Traslados, Danza Memoria, and Lenguaje y Vida. He also produced audiovisual recordings of prominent Latin American artists and created the Videomemoria project, dedicated to documenting the careers of Peruvian artists through more than two hundred interviews.
He was a founding member of several organizations linked to Peruvian cinema and developed an extensive teaching career at institutions such as the Orson Welles Institute, the Lima Film School, and various universities. His recent works include the documentaries Lima Opinión Pública, Mundos Andinos, and Cuatrotablas Estirpe Comunitaria, as well as the experimental feature film Tríptico.
Between 2006 and 2017, he directed the Film and Audiovisual Production Department at the San Marcos Cultural Center and was in charge of the magazine Butaca. He also founded and directed the web channel Desde la Casona, from which he promoted cultural outreach projects and international broadcasts in collaboration with institutions in Latin America and Spain.
He currently develops the video art laboratory Videomemoria and the audiovisual platform Zonavideored.
