Noel Marshall Biography

Noel Bangert (April 18, 1931 – June 30, 2010), professionally known as Noel Marshall, was an agent in Hollywood, California in the 1960s. He later became the executive producer of the 1973 horror film The Exorcist. He wrote, directed, co-produced and starred in the film Roar (1981), which also featured his then-wife Tippi Hedren, stepdaughter Melanie Griffith, and his sons, John and Jerry, from a previous marriage to Jaye Joseph.

Roar was an accident-ridden film that featured tigers and lions. The film took eleven years and $17 million to make, and brought in only $2 million worldwide. He passed away at age of 79, after a battle with brain cancer.

Noel Marshall Quotes

Debate on Wildlife Management Strategies

Hank: Prentiss, your actions aren't necessary. The government knows there's a better way; they're moving the people out of the migration paths. I don't know what kind of person like you could look into the eyes of 200 elephants and put out those lights. They'd run franticly and panic...
Prentiss: [interrupts Hank] Do you think your lions would run in panic?
Hank: Well, you'd better start with me first.
Prentiss: No, I'll start with the tigers first; that'll teach you for bringing them to Africa!
