Plot Summary

The Hughes brothers helm this documentary about the state of prostitution in urban sectors of the U.S., producing an ostentatious, profanity-laden celebration of the ghetto subculture of "pimping." This film combines images of fictional pimps from film and television with candid interviews with infamous real-life street hustlers -- from San Francisco's bluesman-turned-pimp, Clarence "Fillmore Slim" Sims, to Chicago's pimp-turned-minister, Don "Magic" Juan.

Genuinely entertaining and, thanks to a well of self-deluded quotes from the men, shockingly funny. show more

Eighty-six minutes proves to be more than enough time to spend with these characters, but the Hughes Brothers make the case that this is a subculture as compelling as it is repellent.
