June Squibb Lives Up To The Title in The Troubled ‘Eleanor The Great’. Scarlett Johansson capably directs a superb June Squibb in ‘Eleanor the Great,’ but the script makes one major mistake that lets both of them down. Like many actors before her, Scarlett Johansson moves from in front of the camera to behind it for her directorial debut, ‘Eleanor the Great.
’ And there is talent there: Johansson’s direction is mostly unfussy and she largely stays out of her own way in laying out this intimate comedy-drama.
