Plot Summary
During the Great Depression, governor's daughter Kay Warren (Ann Dvorak) assumes the identity of a female hobo to learn firsthand what life is like for women on the road. Kay lives in shantytowns and boxcars as she braves rain, arrest, robbery, sexual advances and other degradations. She also finds friends in real runaways like Mickey (Helen Mack) and Jerry (Ann Doran). As Kay later relates her experiences to her father, he becomes inspired to start a crusade to help homeless women.
