Plot Summary
Boston girl Kathy O'Fallon (Evelyn Keyes) marries Sgt. Mike Flannigan (Dick Powell) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and moves with him to an isolated village in the Canadian northwest. Mike acts as an ad hoc doctor for both humans and animals and also leads search parties for missing people in the dangerous snowbound terrain. Mike and Kathy soon have a young daughter and begin to settle into their new family life. When diphtheria spreads through the community, tragedy strikes.
