Plot Summary
Judith Poe Wells (Alice Faye), the great-granddaughter of Edgar Allen Poe, struggles to have her own writing taken seriously. Destitute and unable to publish her play, Judy sings at a restaurant to pay for her meal and impresses playwright George Blake (Don Ameche) who introduces her to his producer, Sam. George encourages Judy to pursue her singing, but, offended at the notion of such frivolous work, Judy returns home, only to learn that Sam has purchased her play and turned it into a musical.
