Not every beloved TV show or movie is meant to get a reboot.

Alfonso Ribeiro recently made a case against "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" getting new life with its old cast. The actor, who played Carlton Banks throughout its 1990-1996 run, argued during an interview on PeopleTV's "Chatter" that fans don't really want a revival series. He thinks the idea appeals more than the reality would.

"Do we really want to see Will and Carlton in their 40s and 50s?" Ribeiro said. "I think people think they want to see that, but I don't think people really want to see that."

The actor pointed out other major obstacles, too, like the fact that his co-star Will Smith commands too big of paychecks these days to make it feasible. Additionally, Ribeiro considers a continuation "impossible" after the 2013 death of his TV dad James Avery. As he explained it, Avery's character, Uncle Phil, was necessary to "making what Will and Carlton did work."

The actor didn't completely rule out the possibility of a "Fresh Prince" reboot, but he considers one with the original stars "unlikely." However, as many other shows have done, there could be a way to do it with a new cast. Shows like "MacGyver," "Dynasty," and the upcoming "Charmed" reboot have all gone that route.

Even if Ribeiro never reprises his "Fresh Prince" role, he has shown ample willingness to do his character's signature dance, The Carlton, so we'll always have that.
