The good news: CBS All Access wants to save "One Day at a Time." The bad news: Netflix has the power to shut that down.

Vulture reports that CBS All Access has submitted an official bid for at least one more season of the beloved series, which stars Rita Moreno and Justina Machado.

However, Netflix's deal with production company Sony means it can nix any move to a streaming network for at least two years after cancellation.

"One Day at a Time" executive producer Norman Lear has reportedly  reached out to Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos personally to okay the deal with CBS. (The original series, which ran from 1975–1984, was on CBS.)

As of today, the CBS deal is a no go, alas. But all parties are reportedly still in negotiation.

Outcry over "One Day at Time's" cancellation - and Netflix's faux regret over that announcement - were fierce.

Here's hoping they can work it out.
