The "Fast" family returns in just under a year, with "Fast 8" -- or "Fast and Furious 8," or "Furious 8," or even just "F8," -- arriving on April 14, 2017. The official Twitter account announced that production has begun in Cuba:

And here's a great Instagram video, featuring star and director sharing their pride at filming in Cuba:

Back in January, The Hollywood Reporter revealed Universal's hope to shoot in Cuba, maximizing the recently renewed relationship between the U.S. and its island neighbor. Although "Conan" has taped in Cuba, "House of Lies" announced plans to shoot an episode in Havana, and the indie film "Papa" was made there, "Fast 8" is the first major Hollywood film to shoot in Cuba since the embargo was set in the 1960s.

Cuba isn't meant to be the only location, of course. There has already been some filming in Iceland, and reportedly future filming in Cleveland, Atlanta, and New York, among other spots.

The current cast includes a mix of OGs and newcomers, led by Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Eva Mendes, Lucas Black, Kurt Russell, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood, and Jason Statham. According to Collider, Jordana Brewster said she wasn't sure whether or not she'd be back for another round after the 2013 death of Paul Walker.

"Fast 8" is scheduled for release on April 14, 2017.
