9 Iconic Teen Movie Couples, Ranked

Following a ridiculous bet's reveal or an outrageous declaration of love or a highly-anticipated first kiss, teen movies typically get a romantic happy ending. But which couples are truly meant to be and which probably failed before college Freshman orientation?  Here, we round up 9 unforgettable teen movie pairs and rank their relationships from never...to forever.

9. Zack Siler and Laney Boggs, 'She's All That'

We're skeptical about any relationship that starts with a really stupid bet. They make a totally sweet couple and they got their fairytale prom ending, but something tells us they decided to see other people when Spring Break rolled around the next year.

8. Aaron Samuels and Cady Heron, 'Mean Girls'

This movie is the best. But this romance isn't what makes it so great. Don't hate us -- but we never got the feeling that Aaron was that into Cady. He was actually kind of condescending to her right up until the end. Plus, he dated Regina George. Not grool.

7. Lloyd Dobler and Diane Court, 'Say Anything'

OK, so there's the famous boombox scene. Peter Gabriel gets us every time too, folks. But were these two ever going to make it? Lloyd Dobler is a Clash tee-shirt-wearing '80s angst poster child and Diane Court is the love child of Rory Gilmore and John-Boy Walton, so we accept that this pair is a bit mismatched. We just don't see this one lasting into the '90s. Sorry 'bout it, Cameron Crowe.

6. Preston Myers and Amanda Beckett, 'Can't Hardly Wait'

We still will never really understand how Preston saw Aman-DUH Beckett as some special, misunderstood being just because they both ate a Pop Tart for breakfast once, but whatevs. The point is the Homecoming Queen with the Jewel quote on her yearbook page finally noticed the geek in the baseball tee/open polo shirt combo and they sparked something right before heading off to school. Totes cute? Sure. But everlasting love? Probs not.

5. Ferris Bueller and Sloane Peterson, 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'

Is this like the coolest couple of the '80s? He's "Save Ferris" Bueller and she's the raddest girl to ever rock fringe and they make out in the Art Institute of Chicago like it's no biggie. We have to give it up for this totally fun duo. When Sloane utters "he's going to marry me" we want to believe that's in their future.

4. Tyler Gage and Nora Clark, 'Step Up'

Um, this is the beginning of the #relationshipgoals that is Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum. If that isn't true love, then we don't know what is. And they've inspired us to take that Jazzercise class we haven't gotten around to yet, even though we doubt we'll ever be able to touch their dance skills.

3. Cher Horowitz and Josh Lucas, 'Clueless'

A list about great couple without Josh and Cher? As if! Searching for a boy in high school is as useless as searching for meaning in a Pauly Shore movie, so Cher finally wised up and realized that she and Josh were meant to be. We'll never forget that kiss on the stairs and we'll always envy their adorable banter. We agree, Cher. Ren & Stimpy are way existential.

2. Jim Levinstein and Michelle Flaherty, 'American Pie'

If you managed to hold out for "American Reunion" you know how it turns for this unlikely pair, but we didn't need three sequels to tell us they'd have a long-lasting union. From the moment she shocked us all with her raunchy band camp story and made him say her name, we knew she was the one. Keep it up, you crazy kids.

1. Kat Stratford and Patrick Verona, '10 Things I Hate About You'

There are so many reasons why this couple is the greatest. That paintball date. "Can't Take My Eyes Off You." The Fender Strat. THAT POEM. BRB. Gonna go watch that scene for the 57th time. Aaaaand now we're crying again.
