Idris Elba is set to take on an iconic role — and no, it's not James Bond.

Elba will direct, produce, and star in a modern retelling of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" for Netflix. He will also produce original music for the film, which is described as a "sonic and musical experience."

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was a novel published by Victor Hugo in 1831 and told the story of Quasimodo, a hunchback, who falls in love with the gypsy Esmeralda in 1482 Paris during the reign of Louis XI. It's been adapted for the screen numerous times, including a 1996 animated Disney feature.

This is the second collaboration between Elba and Netflix. Last month, the streaming service announced that Elba would create, produce, and star in a comedy series titled "Turn Up For Charlie," about a struggling DJ who becomes a manny to his famous best friend's problem-child daughter.
