"I Saw the Light"
Watch Loki go country as Tom Hiddleston takes on the role of legendary singer-songwriter Hank Williams in this rise-and-fall story following the icon until his untimely death at age 29. "I Saw the Light," co-starring Elizabeth Olsen as Hank's first wife Audrey, is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital all on Tuesday, July 5. Bonus material includes two featurettes and (digitally on iTunes only) commentary with director Marc Abraham. Blu-ray and digital exclusives include deleted scenes and the featurette "A Night in Nashville: Premiere and Musical Performance by Tom Hiddleston."

"The Adderall Diaries"
Based on the best-selling book by Stephen Elliott, "The Adderall Diaries" follows a famous-but-troubled author's (James Franco) obsession with a high-profile murder case, which brings his own dark past into light. Ed Harris, Amber Heard, Cynthia Nixon, and Christian Slater co-star in the release, which is out July 5. Blu-ray and DVD special features include deleted scenes, audio commentary with director Pamela Romanowsky, and the featurette "The Adderall Diaries: A Director's Perspective."

"House of Cards" Season 4
If you don't have Netflix, you shouldn't let that stop you from binge-watching the most fantastic political drama of our time. It's Underwood vs. Underwood in Season 4, and the twists and turns are fascinating, even if they pale in comparison to the insanity of the real-life 2016 political election. Watch it all on DVD/Blu-ray July 5.

"Barbershop: The Next Cut"
You have another appointment at Calvin's Barbershop: This critically acclaimed (90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) comedy comes out on Digital July 5, then Blu-ray/DVD July 26. Sequel to 2004's "Barbershop 2: Back in Business," "The Next Cut" is the fourth film in the Barbershop film series, which also includes 2005's "Beauty Shop." It's been more than 10 years since checking in on Calvin (Ice Cube) and company, including Eddie (Cedric the Entertainer), and major changes have hit the shop, including the male safe-space going coed. Eve, Nicki Minaj, Common, J.B. Smoove, and Anthony Anderson co-star in the socially conscious film, which comes with four special features on DVD/Blu-ray, including a gag reel.

"Emma's Chance"
Greer Grammer ("Awkward") plays Emma, a young woman forced to complete community service at a horse ranch following a dare gone wrong. She ends up bonding with an abused horse named Chance and, when the ranch is threatened with sale to an unsavory type, Emma hatches a plan to save the day. The family film, co-starring Missi Pyle and Joey Lawrence, debuts on DVD and Digital July 5.

"It's So Easy and Other Lies"
This authorized music documentary of Duff McKagan -– founding member and bass player for Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver -- is based on his New York Times best-selling memoir, and chronicles his rise to fame and fortune, struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, and ultimate life transformation. Watch it on VOD and iTunes July 5.

"The Mindy Project" (Hulu)
Season 4 of Mindy Kaling's Hulu comedy started back in September 2015 and, after 26 episodes, it's time for the season finale. "Homewrecker" premieres July 5. Don't worry, though, because Season 5 will start up fairly soon -- in October -- bringing 16 more episodes.

New on Netflix

"The Big Short"
Netflix is offering a great list of selections in July, including this Best Picture/Director/Supporting Actor/Editing nominee, which did win an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Based on the true story and best-seller by Michael Lewis ("Moneyball," "The Blind Side"), this inventive, star-studded look at the collapse of the economy hits Netflix July 6.

"The Invitation"
This is why it's safest to just avoid parties. In this thriller from director Karyn Kusama, a man (Logan Marshall-Green) attends a dinner party at his former house and starts to believe his ex-wife (Tammy Blanchard) and her new husband (Michiel Huisman) have dark plans for the guests. Critics gave this horror thriller a thumbs up and you can see for yourself on Netflix starting July 8.

"The Last Kingdom" Season 1
Looking for another historical epic to devour? Consider streaming this British TV series, set in the late ninth century AD and adapted from Bernard Cornwell's historical novels series "The Saxon Stories." The eight episodes of Season 1 are available on July 10. According to Deadline, Netflix is co-producing Season 2 (which is now filming), taking over from BBC America, which broadcast Season 1 in the U.S.

TV Worth Watching

"Outlander" (Saturday on Starz at 9 p.m.)
Yes, it's Independence Day in the U.S., but later this week we have to head to Scotland for the supersized "Outlander" Season 2 finale. Here's the synopsis for Episode 13, "Dragonfly in Amber" (which is also the title of the second book in Diana Gabaldon's series): "In the present, Claire reveals the truth to her daughter, Brianna; in the 18th century, Jamie does everything he can to save his loved ones as the Battle of Culloden begins." TVLine also shared this finale tease: "Pretty much every scene of the finale contains a spoiler, but I can tell you that you will meet Roger and Brianna very soon after the extended episode begins, and that Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton don't disappoint in the series-crucial roles." Starz has already renewed the series for two more seasons, so when the story ends this week, rest assured it's just beginning.

"A Capitol Fourth" (Monday on PBS at 8 p.m.)
If you like to spend July 4 watching fireworks from your TV set, you have options. In "A Capitol Fourth," Tom Bergeron hosts the celebration of America's 240th birthday from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. The event will feature Smokey Robinson, Kenny Loggins, Gavin DeGraw, Cassadee Pope, Amber Riley, Jackie Evancho, Sutton Foster, the cast of the Broadway musical "On Your Feet!" and Alisan Porter. Jack Everly and the National Symphony Orchestra will close the show with Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" and, of course, fireworks. If you'd rather, switch over to NBC at the same time for the "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" featuring Willie Geist and Tamron Hall hosting coverage of Manhattan's 40th annual fireworks display; performers include Kenny Chesney, 5 Seconds of Summer, Meghan Trainor, and the Radio City Rockettes.

"The Night Of" (Sunday on HBO at 9 p.m.)
"Game of Thrones" is over for the year (cue Jon Snow's sad face gif) but HBO is filling its timeslot with this eight-part crime procedural miniseries co-created by Steven Zaillian ("Schindler's List," "American Gangster"). The first episode, "The Beach," was directed by Zaillian and already premiered online; it'll air on TV this Sunday, July 10. Here's the synopsis for the premiere: "What starts as a perfect night for Pakistani-American student Nasir 'Naz' Khan (Riz Ahmed) becomes a nightmare when he's arrested for murder."

"Tyrant" (Wednesday on FX at 10 p.m.)
Season 3 of this FX drama starts July 6, following Bassam "Barry" Al-Fayeed, the younger of two sons of an infamous Middle-Eastern tyrant. Here's the synopsis for the Season 3 premiere, "Spring": "With Jamal's life in danger and Abuddin on the verge of plunging into chaos, Barry steps forward as interim president and sets the stage for democratic elections. Daliyah takes a leading role in the nation, bringing her close to Barry. Swept up in the tides of revenge, army leaders overstep their bounds in securing peace. An American General who shares history with Leila arrives in Abuddin."

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" (Sunday on Bravo at 8 p.m.)
Teresa Giudice is out of jail and back on reality TV in Season 7 of RHoNJ. Bravo's Housewives guru Andy Cohen teased the new season to Bustle: "It's so good. Expect tears, water works. It's really good. The first episode centers around Teresa getting out of jail. It's a tear jerker." He also said new housewives Siggy Flicker and Delores Catania are "great," adding, "Siggy's hilarious — piece of work. She shows up in the first episode having just had a facelift.
