Oh, "Wonder Woman," please, please PLEASE be as good as you look.

The chills are non-stop in the new "Wonder Woman" trailer, but there's a dark edge. We first met Gal Gadot's modern Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman," when she was wiser and more cynical about humanity. The new trailer starts with that Diana, now working at the Louvre, and has her reminisce about the World War I photo from her past, which is explored in the 2017 origin story.

"I used to want to save the world," Diana says in a voice-over. "This beautiful place. But the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within. I learned this the hard way, a long, long time ago."

That basically tells us that things don't have a happy ending, and that somewhere along the way Diana loses her faith, and only recovers it many years later in time for "BvS" and -- also next year -- "Justice League."

Still, it's easy to get distracted from the dark undertone with those gorgeous battle shots, and the light touches of humor.

If this one disappoints... No, we won't even jinx it. The "Wonder Woman" is out June 2, 2017. She'll be back for "Justice League" on November 17, 2017.
