"Supergirl" fans have strong opinions on Kara's love life, and when Mon-El showed up in Season 2, many of those fans were not pleased. Some of those viewers want Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) to be with someone else, and others just don't like Mon-El (Chris Wood) or how much he took over the storyline in Season 2.

Well, the president of the entire network just stepped into the ring to defend Mon-El from criticism. Here's how TVLine phrased an exchange during the Television Critics Association summer press tour:

"After network chief Mark Pedowitz alluded to MIA Mon-El's possible return at some point in Season 3, the TCA member who had asked him the question at hand opined, 'Nobody wants that.' To which the network boss promptly replied with a smile, 'I think some people would disagree with you on that.'"

It's true that there are some Kara + Mon-El fans out there -- check out the comments at TVLine, where they're popping up to reveal themselves -- but it's also true that there has been vocal backlash, and Pedowitz acknowledged it after the panel in a talk with TVLine:

"I understand there is some backlash to [Mon-El]. [...] I am a big fan of Chris Wood and Melissa, and they get along great. And you know what, it's the right way to tell a story."

Speaking of romance, executive producer Greg Berlanti assured fans that Floriana Lima is not leaving the show, she's just not going to be a series regular in Season 3, and he doesn't think that will change anything for the Sanvers relationship of Maggie Sawyer and Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh). So don't worry about that, but go ahead and worry about dealing with Mon-El again, if you are not a fan.

"Supergirl" Season 3 premieres Monday, October 9 at 8 p.m. on The CW
