A ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ Spin-Off Starring Cobie Smulders is in Development
With the main ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ show ending with Season 5 next year, Smulders’ character would continue on in the new spin-off should it get greenlit.

With Netflix’s ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ wrapping up next year with its fifth season, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s legal eagle Mickey Haller is set to drive off into the LA sunset. But the streaming service seems eager to keep the wheels rolling, putting a spin-off series into development featuring Cobie Smulders’ character (more on that below to avoid spoilers).
Deadline reports that current ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ bosses Ted Humphrey, Dailyn Rodriguez and Matthew J. Lieberman pitched the idea to Netflix, which has commissioned a script and will likely give it a thumbs up if all the deals close with the various parties both in front of and behind the camera.

What’s the story of the ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ spin-off?

Okay, if you’ve made it this far… ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ introduced Smulders’ as Mickey Haller’s (Rulfo) half-sister Artemisia “Emi” Finch at the end of Season 4. In the upcoming fifth season, Mickey’s world is upended when she comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongfully convicted woman, a case he takes on, determined to set right an enormous miscarriage of justice.
When will the ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ show be on screens?
Since this project is still in development and hasn’t even gotten an official greenlight yet, Netflix is far from announcing a date.
But we’ll see Season 5 of ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ next year.
