Netflix is gearing up for a big first, and it's bringing back "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" in the process. The streaming service announced Wednesday that it has ordered an interactive special -- one that will "officially complete the series," according to Tina Fey.

Fey, an "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" creator and executive producer, was on hand at Netflix's FYSEE event in New York to discuss the new project. She pointed out how fitting it is that Netflix's first original comedy series will also be its first interactive comedy event. It turns out she has been working on the upcoming special with her co-creator and fellow executive producer Robert Carlock, and production is going to begin soon. This time, though, things will be different.

"Fans will be able to make choices on behalf of our characters, taking different story paths with, of course, different jokes," Fey said. "I think it's a great fit for our show and will be a great way to officially complete the series."

News of the special comes not long after the final episodes of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" debuted in January. Apparently, that goodbye was more of a "see you later." Stars Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski, and Carol Kane are all returning for another hurrah.

The special comes from Universal Television, Little Stranger, Inc., Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts Entertainment for Netflix. Executive producers are Fey, Carlock, Jeff Richmond, Sam Means, and David Miner.

Still untitled, the "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" interactive special will premiere on Netflix in 2020. We should go out to celebrate.
