'Walking Dead' Season 9 Trailer Debuts, Andrew Lincoln Confirms Exit
In an extended trailer for "The Walking Dead" Season 9, it's united they stand, divided they fall — if they can even call themselves united.
AMC unveiled the trailer at the show's Comic-Con panel and also announced Season 9's premiere date: October 7.
The season will be something of a reboot for the show, with leading man Andrew Lincoln set to exit the franchise.
“I love this show. It means everything to me. I love the people who make this show," he said during the Comic-Con panel. "I promise not to cry — I’ve done enough crying on screen.
Also departing is Lauren Cohan, who is starring in ABC's midseason drama "Whiskey Cavalier." But before she leaves, it looks like Maggie and Rick and others vie for control over the various communities now aligned with each other: Alexandria, Hilltop, the Sanctuary, the Kingdom, and Oceanside.
With Lincoln and Cohan leaving, it falls to Norman Reedus' Daryl and Danai Gurira's Michonne to step up into a leadership role.
