It's no surprise that the athletes are leading the scoreboard as a new season of "Dancing With the Stars" kicked off last night. The best score went to Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, while NFL star Rashad Jennings' cha cha was just one point behind.

Simone racked up 32 points for her tango with Sasha Farber. Len Goodman called it "the dance of the night." Could she win it all? Her fellow gold medalist Laurie Hernandez waltzed off with the mirror ball last season.

Watch Simone's tango with Sasha Ferber:And watch Rashad's groovy cha cha with Emma Slater:"SNL" alum Chris Kattan scored the lowest of the evening with a paltry 17 points for his "A Night at the Roxbury"-inspired dance to Haddaway's "What Is Love." The 46-year-old could blame his stiffness in the head-bopping dance to having broken his neck a few years ago. (No joke!) Or that his 23-year-old partner, Witney Carson has never even heard of any of his "SNL" skits. Ouch!

So who will win the mirror ball this season? Jimmy Kimmel always shares his predictions on who will win the dancing competition before the premiere even airs. This season, he's favoring Rashad Jennings.

"I can't fill out an NCAA bracket for the life of me, I got the Super Bowl wrong, but when it comes to ballroom dancing, I am golden," Kimmel said last night. He crunched the numbers and he's picked the winner 9 out of 18 times. "That's almost half," he jokes.

Meanwhile, our Magic Eight Ball tells us Kattan will be going home first.
