As America celebrated 250 years with the traditional fireworks and cookouts during the Independence Day holiday weekend, the Minions returned to take over the box office.
Released as usual on the Wednesday before the weekend, ‘Minions & Monsters’ took the top spot with $36 million across three days and $64.5 million through the five-day period.
It’s a lower opening than the previous ‘Despicable Me’ movie (the fourth, which made $120 million in 2024), while the last Minions-centric offering (2022's 'Minions: The Rise of Gru') earned $122 million in the same release slot.
