Much like last weekend, studios stayed clear of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ the adaptation of the epic Homer poem ruling the box office for its second weekend.
The movie dropped just 32% to earn $87 million following its debut of $124 million. Globally, ‘The Odyssey’ is now at $639.6 million, a huge win for Nolan and Universal.

What else happened at the box office this weekend?
With that lack of new competition, the chart only shifted slightly, resulting in ‘Moana’ holding on to second place with $10.5 and ‘Toy Story 5’ trading places with ‘Minions & Monsters’ for third. The latest entry in Pixar's huge 'Toy Story' franchise just crossed the billion-dollar mark, making it the highest-grossing film of the year to date with $1.022 billion.
Of the actual fresh releases, recorded theatre performance ‘Hadestown’ landed fifth with $9.6 million, while nearly dialogue-free action pic ‘Motor City’ was eighth on $1.62 million. Outside the top 10, ‘The Neon Demon’ director Nicolas Winding Refn returned to cinemas after 10 years with ‘Her Private Hell’, which earned a slim $530,000 after opening on 675 screens.
