Winona Ryder Thinks She and Keanu Reeves Really Got Married Making 'Dracula'
Two megastars make a movie together and accidentally get married for real during a scene filmed on Valentine's Day.
How is that not already its own rom-com, starring the two people in question -- Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves?
Winona and Keanu were love interests in "Dracula" in 1992. They are now reuniting for the romantic comedy "Destination Wedding," which we plan to see the minute it opens August 31.
During promotion for "Destination Wedding," the two stars -- no strangers to the word "kooky" -- looked back on their "Dracula" time, with Winona musing that they might actually BE married already.
Here's their convo with Entertainment Weekly:
Winona Ryder: “We actually got married in 'Dracula.' No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married."
Keanu Reeves: "It’s lovely to see you again."
Winona reminded him that they went through the whole ceremony and said "I do."
Keanu: "We said yes?"
Winona: "Don’t you remember that? It was on Valentine’s Day.”
Keanu: "Oh my gosh, we’re married."
Technically they are probably aren't married, even by whatever standards they had at the time in Romania. It's just a fun anecdote. But fans are 100 percent behind this '90s union ... except for the ones who are already fake married to Keanu or Winona themselves:
Winona and Keanu -- Weanu? Kinona? They deserve a sickeningly cute nickname, even if they aren't dating/married in real life -- also worked together in 2006's "A Scanner Darkly" and 2009's "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee."
"Destination Wedding" follows two grumpy, finicky strangers invited to a mutual friends' wedding. RSVP for tickets.
